Taking time off from work is important for your overall well-being and productivity in both your professional and personal life. You may also find the need to take extended time away from work for health, family, or other reasons.

 

Overview

Acme offers a variety of benefits that allow you time to relax, recover, care for family members, honor personal commitments, and more.

 

Vacation

You are eligible for paid vacation time if you are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more per week. The length of time you can take each year depends on your years of service.

Years of Service Vacation Days You Can Take
1 year After 60 days of consecutive employment, you accrue one day for each month of service, up to a maximum of 10 days
2–3 years 2 weeks
4–8 years 3 weeks
9 years or more 4 weeks
 

Personal Days

As a regular full-time employee, you can take up to two paid personal days each calendar year. Personal days can be used for religious observance or other personal matters.

Sick/Disability

Even the most health conscious people get sick sometimes. When that happens, you can count on Acme to allow you time to rest or receive treatment.

  • Sick time – As a regular full-time employee, you can take up to five paid sick days each calendar year. Unused sick days cannot be carried over to the next year or paid out upon termination.
  • Short-term disability – If you need more time, you can receive company-paid short-term disability (STD) coverage. Benefits begin after two weeks of disability and pays 60% of your salary, up to a maximum of $1,000 per week. STD benefits end after 26 weeks.
  • Long-term disability – For longer illnesses or injuries, long-term disability (LTD) coverage provides benefits after you have been disabled for 26 weeks. LTD insurance pays 50% of your salary, up to a maximum of $3,000.

Bereavement

In the unfortunate event of the death of a family member, you may receive up to three days of paid time off for bereavement, depending on the deceased’s relation to you.

Family Leave

If you have exhausted your vacation time, you may be able to take an unpaid leave of absence for nonmedical personal matters, including family matters not covered under Family and Medical Leave.

Military Leave

To support your service to your country, you may be eligible for an approved leave of absence consistent with the requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA).

Jury Duty/Witness Leave

If you are called to jury duty or subpoenaed to serve as a witness, you can receive the paid time off needed to meet your civic obligations.

Volunteering

Acme encourages your involvement in community causes that matter to you. You may receive one paid day off each year to spend volunteering with a local charity.

Business Closing
